Meharry Medical College Accelerates Research & Transforms Patient Care with Data Science

Meharry Medical College, a health sciences center focused on underserved communities, faced the challenge of launching a data science institute without additional staff or funding. They had a wealth of patient data, but it was locked in over six separate, siloed systems, forcing researchers to manually comb through information and slowing discoveries by years. The Clearsense solution enabled Meharry to rapidly integrate diverse data types, including clinical records, social determinants of health, and environmental data. This provided a 360-degree view of patients and allowed for the development of a 64-step algorithm and six predictive models for chronic diseases. As a result, Meharry shaved years off research timelines, accelerated grant applications, and is now able to proactively identify at-risk patients. The institute was launched in under 24 months, transforming both research capabilities and patient care.
