SmugMug ingests hundreds of terabytes in real time with ClearScale

SmugMug, an all-in-one photography sharing and hosting service, faced a challenge after acquiring Flickr. They needed to build a scalable data management infrastructure to handle high-volume transactional and analytical workloads, replacing a temporary solution that could not support advanced analytics. They engaged ClearScale for its AWS expertise to design a new data ecosystem.

ClearScale implemented a solution using Amazon Redshift, AWS Lake Formation, and a suite of other AWS services to create a secure data warehouse, data lake, and a real-time data pipeline. This provided SmugMug with a robust, cost-effective platform for data ingestion and processing. The results included a high-performing data ecosystem that supports advanced analytics and machine learning, giving SmugMug confidence that all its data is reliably in the right place and ready for use.
