SF Match Migrates Legacy Infrastructure to AWS to Modernize and Scale Operations

SF Match has provided residency and fellowship matching services for nearly 40 years, but growing demand, aging hardware, legacy technologies, and several single points of failure were causing performance degradation and availability issues. When a server and infrastructure refresh came due, the company decided to migrate to AWS to improve flexibility, reduce outages, and support continued growth across its Windows and IIS/.NET environment.

ClearScale designed and implemented the migration with AWS services including CloudFormation, EC2, RDS, Auto Scaling, ELBs, and CodeDeploy, along with real-time file sync, database replication, and a cold DR region. ClearScale also used a three-step cutover process to limit risk. The result was a more elastic and highly scalable environment with high availability, automated deployments, reduced IT overhead, and better disaster recovery.
