The City of Fremont worked with ClearRoad to modernize its overweight truck permitting process as growing truck traffic strained the city’s existing manual system. Permits were handled on paper at City Hall and could take 24 hours or more to approve, diverting staff time and slowing service for truck drivers.
ClearRoad implemented a three-part truck permitting solution: a web-based Truck Permitting App for vehicle registration, permit submission, and route selection; a cloud-based Permit Management Dashboard for city staff; and a Permit Lookup App for police to verify permits in the field. The result was a streamlined, cloud-based permitting program that reduced manual work, improved turnaround times, and created a foundation for further automation such as enforcement cameras and telematics-based permitting.
