Carilion Clinic, a Roanoke, VA not-for-profit healthcare system serving nearly 1 million patients annually, needed a more user-friendly way to track and improve performance across hospitals, departments, and individual providers. Their prior system was difficult to configure and maintain, so they adopted ClearPoint Strategy’s ClearPoint performance-management software to centralize scorecards and align metrics with their Balanced Scorecard–based strategic plan.

With ClearPoint Strategy, Carilion streamlined scorecards (cutting clinic measures from roughly 70 down to seven focused metrics), automated scheduled reports to about 1,000 providers, integrated data via API, and used advanced calculations and roll-ups. The result was greater visibility into leadership decisions, improved alignment across departments, clearer communication of expectations (including compensation impacts), and a more efficient process for identifying shortfalls and tracking multi-year targets.
