A ClearPoint Strategy Case Study
Cobb EMC, a 23,000-employee not-for-profit electric cooperative based in Marietta, GA, faced fragmented strategy and performance management: sporadic reporting, department-specific tracking methods, and multiple Excel versions left goals misaligned and priorities inconsistent. To centralize and modernize their approach, Cobb EMC selected ClearPoint Strategy and began migrating strategic goal data into ClearPoint’s performance management software in early 2017.
ClearPoint Strategy implemented scorecards for departmental, divisional, and corporate goals, centralized real-time data, added project tracking and an “Idea Machine” workflow that turns staff ideas into tracked projects. The result was streamlined reporting and executive visibility, a formal three-year strategic plan, and greatly improved participation (over 85% in 2016 SWOT participation rising to 98% in 2019). Measurable impacts include a recycling program from an Idea Machine submission projected to save tens of thousands of dollars annually, reduced Excel versioning, and stronger cross-division buy-in thanks to ClearPoint Strategy’s support and intuitive interface.
