Case Study: Halmstad University advances social robotics research with Clearpath's Baxter and Ridgeback robots

A Clearpath Case Study

Halmstad University connects Baxter to Ridgeback in minutes with Clearpath

Researchers at Halmstad University faced the challenge of developing safe and trustworthy autonomous robots capable of complex interactions in human environments. They required a highly developed motion platform to facilitate research into mutual recognition of actions and intentions between humans and robots. Clearpath provided the solution with its Ridgeback mobile base and Baxter robot.

Clearpath's solution offered excellent, affordable motion capabilities and user-friendly hardware supported by ROS. The integration of the Baxter manipulator onto the Ridgeback base was fast and easy. The robots were successfully used in research on emotions, education, and healthcare, culminating in several academic papers and a 6th place award in an international robot art competition. The team also praised Clearpath for its tremendous support throughout the project.
