Case Study: Graz University of Technology achieves autonomous 3D Mars-terrain mapping with Clearpath Husky UGV

A Clearpath Case Study

Graz University of Technology maps Mars terrain in a 4-week simulation with Clearpath

Graz University of Technology, in partnership with the Austrian Space Forum, required a robust robotic platform for a Mars simulation mission in the Oman desert. Their challenge was to conduct autonomous 3D spatial exploration and mapping of the terrain, which was chosen for its geographical similarity to Mars. They turned to Clearpath and used their Husky UGV for this task.

Clearpath's Husky UGV was successfully deployed for autonomous 3D mapping and transportation. The solution was implemented easily, with the team noting the mechanical integration and software installation were straightforward. The Husky successfully identified potential hazards and collected data for the astronauts, leading to a successful autonomous exploration mission. Clearpath's reseller partner provided support and guidance throughout the project.
