Orange County, VA partnered with ClearGov to modernize its capital improvement planning and budget book preparation. The county had been building its budget the old-fashioned way in Excel and Word, manually formatting data, creating charts by hand, and maintaining a separate database process for its capital improvement plan. When its capital budgeting database was no longer supported and the longtime budget book preparer was retiring, Orange County needed an easier, more sustainable approach.
ClearGov provided its Digital Budget Book and Capital Budgeting solutions to streamline the county’s workflow. Orange County used ClearGov for the full capital improvement planning process and for budget document preparation, while continuing to rely on its ERP for submissions and approvals. The result was a more efficient, polished, and professional-looking budgeting process that made it easier to find information, reduced time spent on reconciliation and PDF construction, and positioned the county to focus more on budget improvements; Orange County also expects to perform even better on its GFOA budget award submissions with ClearGov.
