The City of Mesquite, NV turned to ClearGov after the COVID-19 pandemic exposed the limits of its manual budgeting process. City Finance Director Dodie Melendez and her team were juggling Excel, Google Docs, and long email chains while trying to collaborate across remote and in-office workers, and they needed a cloud-based solution that would improve efficiency, flexibility, and departmental coordination.
ClearGov implemented its Budget Cycle Management suite, including Digital Budget Book and Operational Budgeting, and Mesquite later expanded into Personnel Budgeting and Capital Budgeting. The city was able to complete its budget cycle on a tight timeline, create a website-based budget book, and improve transparency for both department leaders and citizens; the budget book received overwhelmingly positive feedback, and the team also gained the tools and support needed to pursue future GFOA awards.
