The City of Campbell, CA was managing its budget in Excel, Word, and email, which created version-control problems, delayed updates, and made collaboration across departments tedious and error-prone. The city needed a simpler, more reliable way to manage its budget book and keep track of the latest changes. With ClearGov’s Budget Cycle Management Suite, including Digital Budget Book, Operational Budgeting, Personnel Budgeting, and Capital Budgeting, Campbell moved to a cloud-based workflow with real-time updates and approval queues for changes. The new system reduced duplicate entry, improved accuracy and collaboration, and helped the finance team work more efficiently during the COVID pandemic. While no hard dollar savings were reported, the city said implementation of Operational Budgeting took about a month and that the switch significantly improved control, understanding, and strategic use of staff time.
