A ClearGov Case Study
The City of Bristol, Connecticut, a suburban city of about 62,195 people, needed a better way to manage budgeting while continuing to meet GFOA award standards. Its manual, labor-intensive process slowed budget finalization, made long-term planning difficult, and relied on a 400-page budget book that was hard for officials and residents to navigate. To address these challenges, Bristol turned to ClearGov’s Capital Budgeting and Digital Budget Book solutions.
With ClearGov, Bristol centralized its budgeting process so department heads could enter information directly, reducing proofreading, printing, and collating work for finance staff. ClearGov also improved capital planning by letting departments attach supporting documents and helping the city evaluate projects for future years, while the built-in GFOA checklist supported its award-winning budget efforts. The result was faster, more efficient budget book production, stronger transparency through a web-based budget book, better long-term planning, and significant time savings in the budgeting process.
