Summit Electric Supply, a major U.S. electrical products distributor founded in 1977 with 25 service centers, needed a Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) solution to give technicians and customers real-time visibility, consistent data updates, and reliable inventory history reports. To meet those challenges, Summit engaged Clear Spider and adopted Clear Spider’s VMI capabilities and mobile app as core components of the project.

Clear Spider implemented a pilot that treats service trucks as inventory locations, deployed the Clear Spider mobile app for technicians to update backend inventory in real time, and integrated with Summit’s existing Sage 300 and SAP systems. The result was comprehensive tracking, increased visibility and location accessibility across trucks and centers, customer ordering through Clear Spider, and accessible inventory history reports—delivering accurate, timely inventory data without overhauling Summit’s systems.
