Cox Media Group launched a new Top 40 radio station, WPOI/HOT 101.5, and needed a fast, high-impact way to break into a market dominated by an established competitor. They worked with Clear Channel Outdoor to leverage digital billboards as the primary promotional channel to drive immediate awareness and encourage listeners to try the station.
Clear Channel Outdoor deployed 20 digital billboards across the Tampa Bay area at the July 4th launch, running branding, promotions and real-time “now playing” song/artist messages. The campaign helped HOT 101.5 achieve a rapid audience lift—AllAccess.com called its climb “meteoric”—and in just one month the station became the market’s #1 Top 40 station, overtaking the previous leader.
