Qualified Health and the University of Texas System use Claude to identify patients who need life-saving care

Qualified Health, a healthcare AI platform, and the University of Texas Medical Branch faced a significant challenge: critical physician shortages and vast amounts of fragmented, unstructured clinical data made it impossible to identify the estimated 4-6 million patients in Texas who qualified for life-saving treatments each year. This resulted in preventable deaths and avoidable complications as at-risk patients went undetected. They turned to the vendor, Anthropic, and its Claude Platform to find a solution.

Anthropic's solution involved using Claude to power an AI platform that integrates and analyzes disparate clinical data. The system applies precise clinical criteria to screen entire patient populations at scale, surfacing eligible patients directly into clinician workflows with fully traceable documentation. The results were immediate; in the first month, the platform identified that up to a third of heart failure patients had opportunities for improved, guideline-directed therapy. This allowed cardiologists to validate and act on these findings, translating into dozens of patients receiving optimized care and demonstrating how Anthropic's technology actively augments the clinical workforce to save lives.
