Hamilton Elementary School boosts reading to 48% and cuts absenteeism with ClassDojo

Hamilton Elementary School, a U.S. elementary school, faced critically low reading scores, high absenteeism, and a significant disconnect with its diverse families, many of whom spoke languages other than English. Principal Brittany Daley identified a trust gap and knew the school needed a tool to make communication easy and inclusive to help students thrive. To address this, the school adopted ClassDojo.

Using ClassDojo, teachers communicated with families via automatically translated messages, photos, and videos, which built a foundation of trust. This trust grew into active family partnership and participation in school events. As a result, the number of students reading on grade level rose dramatically from 9% to 48%, and chronic absenteeism dropped from 37% to 17%. ClassDojo became the central hub for this schoolwide transformation, with over 200 families now actively engaging with the school each month.
