Tabor City Middle School reduces classroom disruptions by 91 % with Classcraf

Tabor City Middle School, a grades 6–8 school of 155+ students led by Principal Kelly Bullard, faced persistent behavioral problems and an “F” school rating. To revive its county PBIS effort and focus the school improvement plan on behavior, Tabor City Middle School adopted the Classcraft platform for schoolwide PBIS.

Classcraft’s game-based rewards and PBIS framework were implemented schoolwide (two weeks of explicit behavior instruction and mandatory teacher participation), producing dramatic results: classroom disruptions dropped 91% (59 → 5), overall referrals fell about 81% (257 → 49), and other incidents (not following directions, fights, disrespect, bus and transportation incidents) declined by roughly 76–90%. The gains drove strong teacher buy-in and helped Principal Kelly Bullard earn Principal of the Year.
