A Class Charts Case Study
Treorchy Comprehensive School in Wales set out to overhaul pupil behaviour and wellbeing after recognising poor visibility of incidents, fragmented staff-parent communication, and inconsistent detention practices. To address this the school introduced EduKey’s Class Charts software (Class Charts) to provide real-time reporting, rewards, detention management and parental access to behaviour and performance data.
Using Class Charts the school centralised detentions, enabled instant parent notifications, and used behavioural data to inform pastoral interventions. The change cut individual teacher detention time from around 29 hours a year to about 7 hours (heads of department now 10), drove nearly 100% parental engagement in years 7–8, and delivered very positive behaviour ratios (98% positive in year 7, 84% across the school); staff also report significant admin time savings. Treorchy is now phasing in another EduKey product, Provision Map, and recommends Class Charts for its flexibility.
