A Class Charts Case Study
Hurworth School, an "outstanding" school modernising its pastoral systems since 2013, needed a way to replace manual processes with instant updates, visual daily tools, automated sanctions and rewards, and a system that fed internal pastoral analysis. They chose Class Charts (part of tes) to build on their SIMS network and deliver bespoke interventions, parental engagement and real‑time behavioural tracking.
Class Charts implemented an evolving, analytics‑driven solution—integrating with SIMS, adding segmentation pie charts, tutor‑group reports and tighter parental features, and enabling mobile "active walkabouts" that provide a live feed for instant praise and rebuke. The result at Hurworth School has been a streamlined, more meaningful pastoral system: daily analytics and a weekly Pastoral Bulletin, faster interventions, clearer lesson narratives and what the school describes as a "huge" measurable impact on pastoral care.
