Ortenau Klinikum Addresses Network Detection Blind Spots with Signature Based Detection and Alerting

Ortenau Klinikum, a large regional health system in Germany with about 6,000 employees across seven locations, needed better visibility into its network, especially for unmanaged medical devices and other connected assets. The IT security team lacked a central way to identify all connected devices, understand network traffic, and see how systems were communicating. To close these blind spots, Ortenau Klinikum turned to Claroty and its Medigate Platform.

Claroty implemented the Medigate Platform’s ATD (Advanced Anomaly & Threat Detection) capabilities, including signature-based detection and alerting, to help Ortenau Klinikum detect known threats in real time and map alerts to MITRE ATT&CK techniques. The result was immediate, actionable visibility into assets, risks, and vulnerabilities, along with improved detection and response for medical devices. Ortenau Klinikum said the platform turned what had been a “blurry picture” into a high-quality one, significantly enhancing security operations and helping reduce risk to patient care.
