Case Study: Berry College prepares science undergraduates for graduate research with Clarivate’s Web of Science

Undergraduate students use Web of Science to discover literature and prepare for grad school

Berry College, a private liberal-arts college in Georgia, wanted a better way to help science undergraduates find relevant journals and use peer-reviewed literature earlier in their academic careers. Although the library already subscribed to major scientific full-text resources, students and faculty were not fully taking advantage of them, and the school needed a comprehensive tool across disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics, animal science, and mathematics. Clarivate’s Web of Science was chosen to address this gap.

Clarivate implemented Web of Science Science Citation Index Expanded for undergraduates in Berry College’s School of Mathematics & Natural Sciences. The platform improved discoverability of high-impact research, encouraged use of the college’s full-text journal resources, and helped prepare students for graduate study by familiarizing them with a core research tool. While no numeric outcomes were reported, Berry College said Web of Science significantly enhanced access to the best resources for student research activity in the sciences.
