Case Study: Tsinghua University enhances its Scholarly Repository with Clarivate Web of Science

Powering the Tsinghua scholars repository with bibliographic data and metrics

Tsinghua University, China’s top university and a major research institution, needed a better way to identify, validate, and maintain the scholarly outputs of its researchers for its Scholars Repository. The library faced heavy manual effort in collecting bibliographic data, disambiguating authors with multiple affiliations, and adding citation information; it chose Clarivate’s Web of Science custom data service and API to support the repository.

Clarivate helped Tsinghua University automate repository creation and maintenance by integrating Web of Science data, including more than 100 bibliographic fields, researcher identifiers, citation metrics, highly cited papers, and links to cited literature. The result was faster data acquisition, improved data quality, better author disambiguation, richer researcher profiles, and greater visibility for THU’s output, helping showcase international co-authorship and enhance the researcher experience.
