Strumica empowers 35K residents with real-time air quality monitoring using Clarity Movement

The municipality of Strumica in North Macedonia, facing a severe air quality crisis as the country's most polluted city, had only a single reference monitor that failed to identify local pollution hotspots. To empower its 35,000 residents and address this critical challenge, Strumica partnered with Clarity Movement to deploy a hyperlocal air quality monitoring network.

Clarity implemented its Node-S sensors, which provide real-time, solar-powered monitoring. The solution included a public dashboard, enabling citizens and inspectors to track pollution and deter illegal activities like waste burning. The Clarity initiative fostered significant community awareness, began influencing policy for cleaner transport, and equipped the city with data to sanction polluters and measure the impact of its actions.
