Teachers assess students with custom FileMaker solution running on more than 1,200 iPads

Dodge City Public Schools, a large Kansas district serving about 6,500 students with 440 teachers, needed to improve student outcomes, meet assessment standards and cut costs while replacing an inflexible legacy testing system and paper-based workflows. The district required a customizable, scalable solution that could support instruction and administration across classrooms and offices.

They built a custom FileMaker solution deployed on servers, desktops and more than 1,200 iPads to deliver assessments, track results in real time, and consolidate data from Skyward, state reports and Google Apps. The system replaced paper with PDF forms, automated scoring and reporting, and centralized administrative processes—resulting in substantial five-year cost savings, faster targeted interventions, streamlined workflows (forms, payroll, audits) and improved accountability and engagement.
