A Claris Case Study
Pulvertaft Hand Centre, a specialist hand surgery unit at the Royal Derby Hospital, was overwhelmed by a paper-based process for the NHS-mandated DASH pre- and post-op questionnaires. Because many patients have hand and wrist problems, staff frequently had to assist or complete forms for patients, then manually transcribe thousands of records into Excel—consuming clinical time and introducing transcription errors.
Developer igeek built a custom FileMaker solution that lets patients complete DASH questionnaires on iPads (FileMaker Go), with a centrally hosted server, offline fill-and-sync and WebDirect access for remote consultants, secured by AES-256 SSL and the Trust’s VPN. The centre now processes over 14,000 digital questionnaires a year, eliminating manual entry, improving data accuracy and reporting, freeing staff for patient care and meeting NHS data requirements.
