New York City schools succeed with in-classroom student information systems based on FileMaker Go for iPad

Leon M. Goldstein High School for the Sciences (LMGHS) — which also formed LMG Data Group to provide school data systems — needed a way to get up-to-date, actionable student information directly into classrooms. Student records were scattered across the NYC DOE mainframe and numerous administrative systems, and desktop-only access kept teachers from making timely instructional decisions.

LMGHS developed APO Office on FileMaker Pro/Server and extended it to iPads within days using FileMaker Go, aggregating multi-source data into a single mobile interface teachers use to assess, group, and intervene on the spot. The system helped drive instructional improvements and outcomes—LMGHS reports a 98% graduation rate, a progress rating uplift from B to A, widespread adoption across NYC schools, and $250,000 in profits reinvested into the school.
