A Claris Case Study
GoodWeave International, founded by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi, is a nonprofit that works with producers, exporters and retailers to end child labor in the handmade carpet industry in Nepal, Afghanistan and India. The organization faces a dispersed, cottage-industry supply chain and the need to conduct sensitive, secure inspections and manage fundraising and communications with a very small staff.
To meet that challenge GoodWeave uses a custom FileMaker solution (developed with Colibri Solutions) to consolidate fundraising, communications, secure inspection data and full traceability of GoodWeave‑labeled rugs; field inspectors collect data offline and upload it to a central FileMaker Server. The system supports about 3,500 inspections a year covering roughly 39,000 workers, has enabled reliable tracing of certified carpets, and helped reduce child labor in the sector by about 75% (from 1 million to 250,000 children).
