A Claris Case Study
The Luke Commission is a nonprofit healthcare organization in Eswatini that brings mobile and clinic-based care to rural, underserved communities. Founded in 2005, the mission-driven team of more than 600 staff manages 116,000 patient visits a year but faced fragmented, siloed systems and critical logistical challenges—most acutely during COVID-19 when national oxygen shortages threatened patient care.
By building a centralized operational ecosystem on the Claris FileMaker platform, The Luke Commission created electronic medical records with mobile biometric identification, a national COVID vaccination workflow, fleet and warehouse inventory apps, and patient follow-up tools. The integrated solutions streamlined operations, improved staff accountability and real-time innovation, enabled better vaccine and supply coordination, supported a new on-site oxygen plant, and ultimately increased critical-care capacity—allowing the organization to care for three times as many COVID patients in the third wave and spend more time on patient care.
