Vision Australia demonstrates wireless audio guidance for 3 key hazards with Clarinox

Vision Australia, a not-for-profit organization assisting people with visual impairment, faced the challenge of helping the vision impaired navigate urban environments safely. They partnered with technology vendor Clarinox to demonstrate a wireless audio guidance system designed to provide real-time navigation instructions.

Clarinox implemented a solution using electronic handheld devices that received Bluetooth-streamed audio from location servers. This system notified users of tram stops, pedestrian crossings, and trip hazards like construction zones. The successful demonstration for the City of Melbourne promoted a proactive approach to improving city access, and participants were so enthusiastic that they planned to seek funding for a large-scale, permanent deployment of the Clarinox system.
