As the site grew and received thousands of new user-generated posts each day, its four-person moderation team struggled to manually review every upload for spam, inappropriate material, and sexually explicit content. The company turned to Clarifai’s AI content moderation tools to help protect its community and make moderation more manageable.
Clarifai’s pre-trained moderation models were integrated by one developer in four weeks. The system now reviews more than 20,000 pieces of user-generated content each day for gore, drugs, explicit nudity, and suggestive nudity at 95% accuracy compared to human review. 9GAG also reduced the hours spent moderating inappropriate content by over 90%, saving 145 hours per week.
