OpenTable, a restaurant reservation company, needed a scalable way to moderate the user-generated images and reviews on its site. Before working with Clarifai, one person manually reviewed about 300 images per day, and some inappropriate content still made it through, affecting the company’s reputation and limiting plans to add more photos from Instagram.
OpenTable used Clarifai’s platform, content moderation tools, and custom computer vision models to classify restaurant photos and support its moderation team through a Clarifai API. Clarifai helped the company train models in about 14 days, and the result was a 16x improvement in operational efficiency and moderator productivity, with images moderated increasing from 300 to 5,000 per day per moderator.
