A Claremont Case Study
Our Future Health, a major UK health research programme, sought to design its public engagement and recruitment strategy for its ambitious project involving millions of volunteers. The challenge was to ensure this large-scale effort was shaped by public input from its earliest stages to support informed consent. To address this, they engaged Claremont for its expertise in co-design, public involvement, and behavioural science.
Claremont implemented a rigorous programme that included audience segmentation and extensive qualitative research through focus groups, workshops, and interviews. Using insights from this research and a COM-B behavioural diagnosis, Claremont developed a message framework and tested a wide range of participant materials, including information sheets, consent forms, and video explainers. As a result, Our Future Health successfully recruited thousands of participants to its early pilots using Claremont's strategy and content. Furthermore, the co-design participants reported a highly positive experience and became embedded in the programme's governance through a Public Advisory Board.
