Unicef UK extends its charitable reach with support from Claranet

Unicef UK, the children’s charity supported by voluntary donations, needed a more secure and reliable way to host its digital channels and fundraising websites as traffic spikes from major campaigns were causing performance issues. To support its online fundraising and campaign activity, Unicef UK turned to Claranet for Managed Hosting, along with Web Acceleration and Managed Network/MPLS services.

Claranet designed a resilient hosted infrastructure with load balancers, caching, and private MPLS networking, giving Unicef UK a single point of contact and better support for its web estate. The result was improved website stability during peak demand, including handling around 18,000 visitors during the Commonwealth Games and helping deliver £6.5 million raised during Soccer Aid, while freeing Unicef UK to focus more on campaigning.
