A CiviCRM Case Study
Voluntary Action Westminster, a London-based non-profit, needed to replace a bespoke CRM that was expensive to develop and left them dependent on a single consultant. They required a flexible system that let staff add and edit fields as funding and reporting needs changed, could present a searchable directory of local organisations and upcoming events on their website, and support mailings and membership management. They chose CiviCRM as the vendor/software to meet these needs.
Using CiviCRM (implemented by Third Sector Design in partnership with VAW staff), the team cleanly imported existing data, enabled email tracking (opens and click-throughs), and trained key staff as super users so day-to-day admin no longer required coding skills. VAW removed costly customisations to stay on the CiviCRM upgrade path, worked with the CiviCRM core team to add a related-contacts search (now in core), and gained lower development/upgrade costs, better support options, a searchable directory and event listings, and increased staff confidence in the system.
