The Heilbrunn Center for Graham & Dodd Investing, a Columbia Business School knowledge center focused on value investing, was relying on an aging custom-built MS Access CRM that cost thousands yet failed to meet their needs. Seeking a simple, cost-effective, feature-rich solution, The Heilbrunn Center migrated to CiviCRM; a key challenge was the need to keep a log of changes to vital contact data fields.

The Center implemented CiviCRM for standard constituent management and event registrations (including limiting registrations to specific groups) and added a custom Drupal module, developed by Hershel Robinson of CiviHosting, to track field changes. Using CiviCRM delivered more functionality and a more robust, portable, and dependable system at a fraction of the cost of the previous solution, improving data tracking and event management while significantly lowering total CRM spend.
