A CiviCRM Case Study
The Seismological Society of America, a nonprofit professional society, needed to replace multiple proprietary systems and modernize member services—complex membership fee structures, annual meeting registration for thousands, board elections, and legacy FileMaker Pro workflows. They chose CiviCRM (implemented by Tadpole Collective) to consolidate contact management, contributions, membership, events and mailings into a single open-source platform.
Tadpole implemented CiviCRM on WordPress—importing contact data, configuring price sets, adding CiviMail and CiviEvent, building a custom one‑vote‑per‑member election function, implementing single sign‑on, redesigning the WordPress theme, and integrating Caldera Forms CiviCRM to streamline membership applications. The CiviCRM deployment consolidated SSA’s systems, enabled online registration for annual meetings with thousands of participants, centralized newsletters via CiviMail, secured board voting, and is replacing remaining FileMaker Pro code to deliver a fully native WordPress + CiviCRM solution.
