SSA Streamlines Membership Process With Caldera Forms CiviCRM

The Seismological Society of America (SSA) needed a cleaner, more user-friendly membership application: its multiple Membership Types and subscription options — which control access to gated content and academic journals — made the native CiviCRM forms cluttered and confusing. SSA, which uses CiviCRM for contact management, events, contributions and mailings, also wanted to preserve a history of membership records rather than overwriting records on renewal, so they turned to Caldera Forms CiviCRM (CFC) to improve front-facing data collection.

Working with Tadpole and Andrei Mondoc (developer of Caldera Forms CiviCRM), SSA implemented Caldera Forms’ conditional logic plus three new CFC processors (Membership, Line Item, and Order) to map form fields to the proper CiviCRM tables and Price Sets. The CiviCRM-backed solution delivered a streamlined, logical application flow, improved presentation, preserved membership history on renewals, and enabled accurate price/line-item mapping for gated access — simplifying administration and the user experience without changing SSA’s underlying CiviCRM platform.
