RORC Go Live on CiviCRM

The Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC), a historic sailing club with roughly 3,500 members that runs about 20 races a year with ~250 entrants per race, needed to replace an outdated Access-based CRM developed in 1997. The RORC Board chose CiviCRM as the vendor/product because it provided the required web-based functionality accessible to staff, members and external stakeholders and could better meet the club’s membership and event management needs.

CiviCRM was implemented, configured to reflect RORC’s membership categories, tags, groups and events, and relevant data was migrated from the old Access system to avoid re-entry. CiviCRM is now live and successfully managing RORC’s membership and events, enabled a fast go-live for incoming staff, and delivered tangible savings—tens of thousands of pounds—by avoiding costly CRM software licenses.
