A CiviCRM Case Study
Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is the UK charity focused solely on blood cancer research that needed to replace disparate systems with a single CRM integrated into its Drupal website. After a supplier selection they chose CiviCRM to bring CRM and digital output together so they could personalise services and messaging online. Key challenges included migrating a very large dataset (about 350,000 contacts, 1,200,000 contributions and 190,000 participant records) and replicating a complex batch-based financial processing workflow that CiviCRM did not provide out of the box.
CiviCRM was implemented (with Veda Consulting as principal implementer) and the team used direct SQL scripts to migrate the entire dataset into CiviCRM in under two hours. A new batching/financial module was developed to handle high-volume offline contributions, integrate with Pentaho reporting and produce ledger export files for the accounting system, and events/contribution pages were integrated with Drupal. The result is a consolidated CRM that supports large-scale contributions and participant records, provides automated ledger exports for accounting, and enables the personalised digital engagement LLR sought.
