A CiviCRM Case Study
The Vitiligo Society is a London-based charity supporting people with vitiligo that faced year‑on‑year declines in memberships and donations and was hampered by legacy IT and web services. Trustees launched a “Digital & Cloud‑First” programme to modernize engagement and fundraising, and after assessing options (including Salesforce NPSP, White Fuse and Donorfy) selected CiviCRM for its cost, open‑source mission, flexibility and email integration (e.g., Mosaico), while moving their site from Joomla to WordPress.
Using CiviCRM integrated with WordPress, the Society cleaned and consolidated supporter data, implemented analytics and automated paper processes, and built a CRM‑synced membership portal with a paywall preview model to convert visitors to paying members. CiviCRM enabled better workflows, freed staff time for higher‑value work, improved member engagement, and has supported an early‑successful paywall pilot that positions the charity to grow fundraising and renewals.
