A CiviCRM Case Study
The National Institute Of Agricultural Botany (NIAB), which integrated with The Arable Group to form NIAB TAG, needed to consolidate two legacy systems during a time-sensitive merger while cleaning and importing membership and sales data. To support membership, events and sales workflows and to replace several proprietary databases, NIAB chose the open-source CRM CiviCRM (implemented via a Drupal/PHP stack) for its suitability to not‑for‑profit organisations and familiarity with the development team.
CiviCRM was implemented in phased work by the NfP Services team to provide full back‑office functionality: membership renewals and sign‑ups, subscriptions, email/postal mailings, reporting, sales/shop handling and an interface to Sage Accounts. The solution consolidated and imported all existing membership and subscription data, replaced multiple legacy systems, improved reporting and finance integration, and enabled NIAB TAG to manage membership, events and sales efficiently through the merger.
