A CiviCRM Case Study
MAF Norway, a mission aviation organization established in 1986, faced a significant challenge with its outdated, closed-source fundraising software from the 1990s. The system was costly, inflexible, and unable to support modern, individualized communication methods like personalized URLs, "my page" functionality, and SMS, which were critical for their new, ambitious fundraising goals. They needed a modern solution to manage their envisioned "donor journeys" and turned to the vendor CiviCRM for its open-source CRM platform.
CiviCRM implemented its product to migrate MAF Norway's data and replicate their existing processes as a first step. The solution was expanded with a recurring payment extension to suit the organization's specific needs. This provided the foundation for MAF Norway to completely transform its donor communication, moving from bulk mailings to individualized "donor journeys" with automated, multi-channel responses. While specific metrics are not provided, the result was an integrated system that eliminated costly licensing fees and enabled highly efficient, personalized donor engagement, with MAF Norway anticipating going live with CiviCRM in October 2013.
