Increasing donations and event participation with CiviCRM

Highland Hospital Foundation, the 501(c)(3) fundraising arm of HHA, Inc., needed a more robust way to track event participants, record contributions, and send mass emails. After evaluating options (including Razor’s Edge and Salesforce for nonprofits), the Foundation chose CiviCRM, using core features like Contacts, Contributions, Events and Reports and integrating online payment via PayPal Pro to replace paper-based registration.

CiviCRM was implemented to manage events (notably the annual golf tournament), collect required custom registration data (e.g., golf handicaps), send registration notifications, and produce out-of-the-box contribution reports to reconcile credit card and check payments. As a result, CiviCRM enabled HHF to move registration in-house with online payments, improve donor communication, and maintain more organized, trackable records of donations and participants compared with their prior Excel-based processes.
