Green Renters is an Australian not‑for‑profit that provides sustainable living advice for people in rental housing. Needing a budget‑friendly, open‑source CRM that wouldn’t lock them into proprietary systems, they selected CiviCRM (chosen in part for its Drupal integration) to handle contacts, event registrations, memberships, donations, mailing lists, surveys and competitions; their main challenge was an initial learning curve and occasionally knowing where to look for solutions.

Using CiviCRM, implemented by a single developer, Green Renters centralized contact management and automated event registrations, membership and donation processing, and communications—enabling them to run workshops, host events and deliver projects more efficiently while staying within budget and avoiding vendor lock‑in. CiviCRM’s capabilities helped mobilise renters and support outreach and fundraising activities, contributing to community recognition such as the WWF Earth Hour Education Award.
