A CiviCRM Case Study
Watershed Management Group (WMG) is a nonprofit that runs community-driven water-harvesting, training and volunteer programs across Arizona, California and internationally. Facing fragmented data across Excel, Google Docs, QuickBooks and separate mailing lists—and managing 60–75+ workshops a year, hundreds of volunteers and a rapidly growing Co-op—WMG needed a centralized system to improve event registration, donor development and volunteer tracking. WMG selected CiviCRM to address these challenges.
CiviCRM was deployed as a centralized CRM with CiviMail, events management and a customized volunteer-hours tracking setup for the Co-op, consolidating disparate data sources and replacing paper signup sheets, PHPList and spreadsheets. The implementation enabled online registration for 75+ workshops, centralized donor lists across cities and continents, streamlined tracking for hundreds of volunteers and supported WMG’s certification trainings that attract 100+ professionals annually—delivering measurable staff time savings, more uniform Co-op management and stronger donor development through CiviCRM.
