Dutch Socialist Party migrates 148,000 contacts to CiviCRM

The Dutch Socialist Party, a major political organization in the Netherlands with over 42,000 members, faced significant challenges with its proprietary membership administration software, Manyware. After losing confidence in their vendor due to vague promises for new developments, they sought a new open-source solution to manage their complex data and structure. They chose to implement CiviCRM to address these needs.

The solution was implemented with the help of CiviCRM partner Civicoop, who advised a step-by-step transition. The team customized CiviCRM to map the party's structure and successfully migrated over 148,000 unique contacts from their old system. After overcoming these challenges, the SP went live with CiviCRM in February 2015. The new system successfully centralized their administration and the team is now working on rolling out a stripped-down version of CiviCRM to its 163 local branches.
