A CiviCRM Case Study
channelAustin, a nonprofit community media organization in Austin, TX, adopted CiviCRM (integrated with Drupal) to manage member contacts, online payments, training-class events, donations, certifications and email communications. They needed a system to handle PayPal payments, tiered memberships, multi-day event scheduling, and automatic certification group assignments, but found several requirements were not fully solved by out-of-the-box CiviCRM or its documentation.
channelAustin staff, with support from A Little Help Hosting, configured and extended CiviCRM to provide membership management, event registration (including multi-day classes), online payment processing and automated certification workflows. The customized CiviCRM implementation now supports contacts, contributions, events, memberships and email, enables certified members to reserve studios and equipment, and helps power programming that reaches an estimated 285,000 Austin households and a global online audience.
