Case Study: Association of Contingency Planners modernizes website, automates membership and dues with CiviCRM

A CiviCRM Case Study

Preview of the Association of Contingency Planners Case Study

Complete redesign of website in Joomla 2.5 and database to accommodate a broad scope of functionality

The Association of Contingency Planners (ACP), a national organization serving 2,300 members across 42 chapters, faced an outdated Joomla 2.5 website and database that could not support integrated CRM, membership sign-ups, chapter sites, a members-only area, or complex dues and reporting rules. ACP selected CiviCRM as the CRM platform to replace the legacy system and to integrate the website, document management, membership processing and emailing.

CiviCRM, with web and database developers, rebuilt the Joomla site, imported ACP’s membership data into CiviCRM, and delivered customizations including chapter custom fields, date-and-status-based dues pricing to prevent incorrect discounts during the 2013 change, autopopulated usernames from emails, forms allowing organizations plus up to four designated individual members, and role-based reporting for chapter vs corporate boards. Implemented mainly via custom PHP and jQuery, the CiviCRM solution now supports ACP’s 2,300 members across 42 chapters, automates renewal and pricing rules, streamlines sign-ups, and enforces appropriate administrative access.
