Case Study: The School of St Jude achieves streamlined fundraising and slashed admin time with CiviCRM

The School of St Jude provides free, high-quality education to Tanzanian children from very poor families. In 2015 their database provider announced it would no longer support server-based applications and a cloud-only move was not feasible given Tanzania’s limited internet, so they engaged consultant Azadi Sheridan (Productle) who recommended CiviCRM and Veda Consulting to implement a new fundraising CRM.

CiviCRM was implemented (on Drupal, using CiviMember) to manage sponsorships, bulk email to ~2,500 sponsors with automated student content, and automated financial processing. The result was a much faster implementation (near full rollout in about nine months), dramatic time savings (tax receipts went from 7 people/1 month to 1 person/1 day), better segmentation and campaign metrics, and centralized data that replaced many spreadsheets — improvements the School attributes directly to CiviCRM.
