Better Event Management for the Village Zendo

Village Zendo, a Soto Zen community in New York City, needed a more reliable way to manage instruction, dharma talks, retreats and workshops while upgrading their WordPress site. They had been using FileMaker Pro and an unsupported WordPress events plugin, and chose CiviCRM—particularly CiviEvent, with CiviMember and CiviContribute—to improve event registration and handle memberships and donations via PayPal.

Tadpole Collective rebuilt the site with a new WordPress theme, added the Event Organiser plugin integrated with CiviCRM, and configured CiviEvent/CiviMember/CiviContribute for registrations, dues and contributions. When a PayPal email change broke payments, Tadpole applied a patch to CiviCRM to restore the gateway; as a result Village Zendo has streamlined event, membership and donation workflows and resumed income flow.
